Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
It's not just that. Anyways, after about 4 hours the update finally finished and the game works just fine (well, the loading screens look weird - are they supposed to be like chaotic?). That new minigame thingy (one with the kill counter) is awesome. Great loot in Hell difficulty

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
The loading screens are not completed... if you look at how the game works with the UI images, it's just grabbing whatever it can find for loading screens/menus and putting that up there when it cannot find the proper localization's UI graphics. The HUD is complete, of course. But for the English version's loading screens, it's putting stuff in the wrong place... so yes, you have that beautiful swirl of chaos (Cthulhu wouldn't mind if it stayed that way, but that's... only because it looks "right" to Cthulhu.)

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
For those of you who are having slow download speeds, it sometimes helps if you cancel the download and restart it... particularly if you're downloading the client through one of the download managers that you find on the Hanbitsoft website.
This can work even on the client updates; the game seems to keep all of the update downloads in cache files before it converts them into the usual .dat files.*
*WARNING* I don't recommend doing this though if you're able to leave the thing running. Sometimes this can backfire and the game will take just as long reading through the cache as it takes to download the actual files.

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
One additional question: is it possible to start the game without its launcher? The launcher takes like 2 minutes to conclude the game is up to date. Clicking the .exe directly doesn't seem to work anymore. Also, anyone who plays just add Loitsu-Liisa to their buddies say hello

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
I have tried several shortcuts and other work-arounds, but unfortuntely, no the game will NOT start without the launcher. They've changed the way the game's .exe works. It looks for the launcher before it tries to run. If you try to run it by itself, it will give you the warning message: "Alone cannot run" and then it will close. There seems to be a connection between the launcher and the .exe file called "HGLHPLoader.exe". I am under the impression that this file is used for the updates that Hanbitsoft puts on the server. Since you need the launcher to download the updates for the game, I do not recommend you try circumventing it anyway. I imagine if you managed to get around it, you'd end up with days where you would not be allowed to log into the game because you were missing up to date files. But that's my guess... anyway, if someone figures out how to get around the launcher, I'll post their trick in the FAQ. Until then, the Launcher is essential.

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
Hmm... I don't know if that's an accurate release date. From what I understand though, they are releasing a big PVP update on 6/1/10. Oh, I updated the FAQ with some of the more recent developments (I.E. Sydonai dropping the cube, mythic item recipes, Hell mode, Wake Hollow going bye-bye and the new mini-game).

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
Small, but important update to the FAQ:
All threads and/or posts asking about getting access to the Korean server or discussing, in any detail, how you gained access, will promptly be deleted. We do not want to take any chances, especially since Hanbitsoft is looking to increase their presence overseas. The last thing I would want is for this site to be accused of harboring an identity theft scheme of some sort.
You may still talk about game play, downloading or modifying the Korean client and/or trouble shooting the client. But PLEASE refrain from talking SPECIFICALLY about accounts.
I hope all of you understand.

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
Seems that the latest patch screwed up the English language files so playing in English is at least momentarily out of option.

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
Got to agree, they messed it up (at least for us English-playing people) bad... Well not as bad as it was after the server upgrade last fall but not really playable... Hope for a fix soon...

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
I've heard... I updated the FAQ with a note about the English trick currently not working. Sigh...

Re: Hellgate: Leisure Wreck Shawn FAQ
FAQ has been updated with info from a fairly recent interview with Hanbitsoft Japan's CEO.
I also updated some of the question answers. Coloring is mostly all white/grey again... I'll go back and change it if the need arises.
