well, i subbed once already, before the changes so I think it will work, unless they changed something about subbing...

Hopefully I won't have any problems... :?

If you subbed before you should have no trouble resubbing. On another note I got everything working and in English so I'm in. I just have to wait for the 7th of Nov. before subbing. My in name on the server is Killious if anyone wants to friend me :P

I think I can confirm this one. After reading about this I've checked couple of my trial accounts every day and today one of them had changed to proper account (i.e. it allowed me to get into payment options - I haven't actually paid yet but I'm 99% sure it works). Looks like my brother gets to play after all :)

If any of the remaining accounts turn proper I'll let someone needy to have it.

Thanks Kuukeli - there's no telling when, but we are going to run out of CD Keys from that commercial version of HG: Korea that we purchased. :(

thegreatcthulhu wrote:
Yeah, I found those instructions that Defessler wrote to be confusing as well. Here's a better description:

1. Update the Korean client by logging in with your username/password.

2. After updating, find the Hanbitsoft/Hellgate London/Data/ folder and rename the hellgate_localized000.dat and hellgate_localized000.idx files to something else like k_hellgate_localized000.dat/.idx. It doesn't matter what you call them, just make it something that can distinguish them from the files that you will be temporarily replacing them with in the next step.

3. Copy the hellgate_localized000.dat and hellgate_localized000.idx files from the English installation DVD and put them in the /data/ folder for the Korean version.

4. Rename the Korean version's "language.dat" inside of the /data/ directory or delete it. I'd rename it so you can have a backup in case something goes wrong.

5. Make a new text file and write inside of it: Language=English

6. Save the text file as language.dat

7. Copy the "English" folder from the English installation DVD. It will be found inside the folder titled "Language".

8. Paste the English folder into the Korean version's "Language" folder.

9. Next, go ahead and log back into the Korean Hellgate. It will connect and update you again. After that, go back into the Hellgate folder.

10. Change the hellgate_localized000.dat and idx files that you took from the English version to something else or delete them.

11. Change the Korean hellgate_localized000.dat and .idx files back to their original names.

12. You should now be set up to play the game in English on the Korean server!

I am currently trying to set my Korean hellgate to play in english, and i have done what u show above and i can not get the new client to update the second time.
and to what extent is the game free to play?

To the 2 recent Posters.... Did you not read the disclaimer about connecting and the now evident problems therein... Cthulu specifically stated that registering is down... Even if you follow the steps exactly your not going to get around their ip ban for all non-korean registration servers... It isn't going to happen...

You'd have better luck connecting to the TC server which I hear is up and running again on 0.6 vanallia for SEA

ok, ok the second statement was a pipe dream... but even its closer at this point than korea's MP client coming here...

thegreatcthulhu -- thanks for the great article on Hanbits hgl now and in the future. Very informative, there was more useful info in your article than all the rest of the hgl articles on the internet in the last year...combined.

It is good to have someone on the inside so we don't have to sit around speculating.

I have wondered that myself, but considering we're using the NA_EU_Ger version anyway, I think we'll be able to play.
If, of course, it does, in fact, get released into the wild.

I updated question #11 with a more specific rundown of what Hanbitsoft has left out. By "left out", I mean what they've not put into the game that Flagship had present on the 2.0 TC.

Beware, it might make you angry.

Quote:
4. Special anti-debuff items that go off automatically when you are debuffed and then provide you temporary immunity to said debuffs
5. Temporary invulnerability potions that get triggered when your shields are depleted
9. Pills that give you +20 strength or willpower or accuracy or stamina. They last in either 4 or 8 hour versions.

I thought they were making the game harder, not easier.
Quote:
8. Shared stash rental tokens; they expire in varying amounts of days depending on what you pay for them.

Does this mean that the shared stash is completely temporary?
Quote:
14. Global spamming megaphones; these are handy for announcing a big trade that you want everyone to see. When you use them, they put up an announcement on everyone's screen, much like the GM announcements.

I can't see anyone using these to spam messages, not at all. ;)
Quote:
11. Have they put in the new skills (I.E. Darkform, Shield Throw, Spider Bots) and/or the new weapons (I.E. Claw focus weps, Gleamcarvers, Thumpers)

Here's a list of all the things they have still not put into the game that Flagship had in the 2.0 TC:

So they've spent their time on gimmicks, and toys, instead of important things, like fixes. And they're not using content that's already in the game?
Quote:
The nanoforge

- now can go backwards on items, or worse, destroy them. The threshold for nano-upgrades looks like this:
The de-modifier now only lets you remove one mod at a time. Also, de-modifier runs the chance of randomly destroying your mods. Apparently, the higher the quality of the mod is compared to the weapon it is in, the higher the chance the mod will be destroyed.

I never nanoforged many items, so that would be only a nuisance to me. But de-modding an item can destroy them? I think I'd prefer the choose between: destroy mods, keep item, or destroy item, keep mods idea, instead of the chance to destroy mods.

Malachor - the cheat items that make the game easier cost actual money. That's the reason why they made the game harder - so you would be paying for cheats all the time. :-/

Edit: FAQ updated, see the latest question.

I haven't seen that on the live one... only the guy who gives out the Tokyo tickets.

I looked into this... apparently it's only offered to your character if you're under a (very low) level. Since it's a level that's way below whenever you can get the new skills... I wouldn't count on this being a way to mitigate using the cheat shop or spending countless hours farming Moloch.

I updated the FAQ with what has been listed in the Tokyo patch notes; sadly a lot of the still missing Flagship 2.0 content had to be redacted.

It seems that Hanbitsoft is still retaining the missing changes for either a later date or has no interest in releasing them. :(

Managed to download the new client, installed it but it doesn't run. None of the buttons in Launcher activate and if I try to start the game from .exe I get this message:

Image

Any ideas? I'm using 64-bit Windows 7.

EDIT: Maybe I just lacked patience but now it seems that the Launcher is updating.

EDIT 2: The update is agonizingly slow

Welcome to downloading files that are hosted on servers on the opposite side of the planet :P

I am going to be downloading the new client myself however I have been out of town for a while now and the net here is already pretty slow so trying it from here would be a lesson is masochism lol. As soon as I get back I will be taking the plunge though.
